the Government of Mexico announced that Mexico joined the Beneficial Ownership Leadership Group (BOLG) to drive the global policy shift towards free, open beneficial ownership data. The country signed up to a set of best practice disclosure principles and will look to shift the global norms of company beneficial ownership transparency by 2023, by committing to developing domestic public registers of company beneficial ownership, support efforts globally and regionally for other countries to do the same. We look forward to see the development of the register and how it will be utilized to check property purchase and public contracting.

The Ministry of Public Affairs reported that in collaboration with the Finance Intelligence Unit (UIF) of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) triggered the adherence of Mexico to the Beneficial Ownership Transparency Disclosure Principles supported by the United Kingdom. In December 2019, for the International Day Against Corruption, the Government of Mexico announced that Mexico joined the Beneficial Ownership Leadership Group (BOLG) to drive the global policy shift towards free, open beneficial ownership data. The country signed up to a set of best practice disclosure principles and will look to shift the global norms of company beneficial ownership transparency by 2023, by committing to developing domestic public registers of company beneficial ownership, support efforts globally and regionally for other countries to do the same.

The government changed in December 2019. The new government has informed through the Open Goverment Partnership (OGP) that they plan to launch a proactive commitment between the the Ministry of Public Affairs, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Ministry of Economy, in coordination with civil society, for the 4th Action Plan which is in process of elaboration and will be presented in November 2019, there is no public evidence yet. The Ministry of Public Affairs reported that in collaboration with the Finance Intelligence Unit (UIF) of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) impulsed the adherence of Mexico to the Beneficial Ownership Transparency Disclosure Principles impulsed by the United Kingdom.
