Open Contracting Data Standard
The UK Crown Commercial Service will implement the Open Contracting Data Standard by October 2016. The UK is trialling the principles of this Standard in High Speed Two (HS2). The UK will join the new Contracting 5 group to promote open contracting globally.

The UK implemented the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) in November 2016. In doing so, it became the first G7 country to commit to the Open Contracting Data Standard for contracts administered by the Crown Commercial Service. The whole process of awarding public sector contracts is now visible to the public for the first time. Available to the public are the Crown Commercial Service dashboard and open contract statistics. In March 2019, the Government updated its guidance on open contracting data.

The UK continues to implement the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) as a tool for transparency, accountability and operational analytics. The UK National Action Plan for Open Government 2019-2021 (Commitment 4 on Open contracting data) commits to create additional OCDS compatible metadata fields in Contracts Finder to indicate specific types of contract terms. The Cabinet Office has also uploaded a handout on Contracts Finder to their guidance page on Procurement and contracting transparency requirements. In addition, CCS also released an updated ‘CCS Contracts Finder Open Contracting Data Standard publication guide’.
